My Earthly Father is someone I never understood, until my adult years. He kept quiet, did not express his feelings & so I never knew his thoughts or feelings as a child, as a teenager & even into early adult life. In reality I never knew my Father & never made the effort to know him. I didn't understand the value or importance of getting to know him, being a friend, or anything else. My father closed himself into his own world away from us because we never gave him a chance to be close. We thought he was the enemy on some days, even though he was a decent & caring person from deep within, just could not express it, maybe something to do with being in WW2, something I never understood.

My Father passed away many years ago, before I could know him or him me, too late & something that can never be.

As I see the Moon in the sky I will always remember my Father as a part of his history is up there on the surface of the Moon. My Father worked on the landing gear for the Apollo Space Program, was part of the process that helped place man on the moon. Elements of what he worked on are still on the lunar surface & so my vision of the moon holds something special each & every time it shines in the sky. It is a reminder & brings thoughts of my Father & lessons of life I now know.

For me the Moon is my reminder of my father. For you it may be something else. Find it, whatever or wherever it is, cherish it and let it serve as your reminder and comfort.
